Sometimes in our lives, God allows us to face difficult moments. When He does, it’s always with a purpose, He wants to teach us something. The only way to be approved by Him is to discern what He wants from us and to accomplish His will. Today, let’s learn how Job understood God’s desire in the worst moment of his life and how we can also walk in obedience during our own trials.

1 – The Prosperous Job

Job wasn’t just rich, he was truly prosperous. Prosperity goes beyond wealth. He had ten children, seven sons and three daughters, a loving wife, abundant livestock, and great possessions. More importantly, Job feared God deeply. He even regularly offered sacrifices for his children, worried that they might have sinned in their hearts.
Now, many people may seem upright before others but are not approved by God. Job, however, was so righteous that when Satan appeared before God’s throne, God Himself asked Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is none like him, a perfect and upright man, one who fears God and avoids evil.”
Satan argued that Job’s obedience was only because God protected and blessed him. So, God allowed Satan to touch Job’s life, but not to take his life.
Let’s reflect: if God were to speak about us, would He trust us enough to say we are upright? Could He point to our lives as examples of faith, even before someone like Satan? That’s the kind of reputation I want to have with God. Amen!
2 – Job Loses Everything, His Friend Doubt Him

Imagine a pastor with a great reputation. He leads a large church, has financial success, and is respected. Then, suddenly, he loses everything, his money, his children, his businesses, his car, and even his church building is destroyed. What would people say? “Hmm, he must be in sin. God is judging him!”
That’s human nature. We often assume suffering is a sign of sin. But the Book of Job teaches us an important lesson: if you don’t know the full story, don’t speak!
Job’s friends didn’t know that God actually saw Job as perfect. From their perspective, he was being judged. But in reality, this was a test, God allowed Satan to attack Job to prove Job’s faithfulness.
We need to be careful. If we judge someone wrongly, we may end up speaking against someone God is supporting. That’s a dangerous place to be! So instead of judging people going through hardship, let’s pray for them.
God uses adversity to shape our character. As long as we have breath, He wants to make us better. The problem is, when life is good, we often stop seeking Him with passion. But in hard times, our faith grows deeper. That’s why even Christians face trials, because God uses those moments to develop our faith and refine our hearts.
3 – The Restitution

On the final chapter of Job, we see the powerful result of his obedience:
Job 42:10 (KJV):
“And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.”
God restored Job’s life after he prayed for his friends, the same friends who had accused him falsely. Imagine how hard that must have been! If it were me, I’d probably be frustrated and hurt. But Job understood that obedience to God mattered more than holding grudges.
Instead of seeking revenge or justifying himself, Job prayed for them. That was the moment he received God’s approval, and with it, double everything he had lost.
Conclusion
Sometimes God will allow painful things to happen in our lives. But remember what Jesus said:
“In this world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 KJV)
We will face trials to grow in our faith. I don’t know what you’re going through today, but I encourage you to pray and ask God what He wants to teach you through it. Maybe the very thing you’re facing is what He wants to use to approve and bless you.
