Abraham: How To Live By Faith And Not By Side

Have you ever wondered why Abraham is called “the father of faith”?
It’s because Abraham chose to trust in a God he didn’t yet know, a God who spoke promises that seemed impossible. Abraham believed and obeyed, even when logic and reality told him not to.

Today, let’s dive into some of the most powerful moments from Abraham’s journey and discover what made him a model of unshakable faith.

1 – Obedience To An Unknown God

Genesis 12:2–3 (KJV):
“And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

Abraham Going With His Wife to The Land That God promised

Imagine living your daily life when suddenly, God speaks and tells you to leave everything behind, your job, your home, your community, and go to a land He will show you as you walk.

That’s exactly what happened to Abraham. And what’s most incredible is this: he obeyed.

He didn’t ask for a map or details, he simply trusted the voice of God. Can you imagine how hard that conversation must have been with his wife? “We’re leaving tomorrow… I don’t know where, but God will show us.” Yet Abraham’s faith was greater than his doubt, and because of that obedience, even Jesus Christ, our Savior, came through his lineage.

2 – Faith To Raise His Son From The Dead

Hebrews 11:17–19 (KJV):
“By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.”

One of the most remarkable moments in Abraham’s story is when God tested him by asking him to sacrifice his son, Isaac, the very child through whom the promise would be fulfilled.

Abraham obeyed, believing that if God had promised a legacy through Isaac, then even death wouldn’t stop God. He had faith that God could raise his son from the dead.

What does this teach us? That real faith isn’t just believing in God’s power, it’s trusting His purpose, even when it doesn’t make sense.

Faith doesn’t mean everything will make sense. Faith means choosing to trust the One who holds all things together.

If God created the stars, the planets, and all of life with just a word, why do we struggle to believe He can fulfill His promises to us?
Is your problem bigger than creating a galaxy? Of course not.

Abraham teaches us to believe, not by sight, but by faith. That’s what pleases God.

Conclusion

There are no shortcuts to growing in faith. The only way is through hearing and meditating on the Word of God. This is why it’s so important to take Scripture seriously. Our walk with Christ depends on faith, and without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).

Let’s be like Abraham and choose to live by obedience and belief, even when the road is unclear.
