The Prodigal Son is a classic in Biblical School, am I right?
Well, today let’s dive into this parable and try to learn from it. Wiser is the one who learns from the one who fell short, isn’t it?

1 – The Blessing On The Wrong Time It’s A Curse
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV):
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”

Sometimes in our Christian journey, we forget that God is our Heavenly Father. So, He may not allow certain blessings into our lives just yet because He knows what could happen if we receive them too soon.
Look at the prodigal son, he chose to receive his inheritance before the right time. When you decide to pursue something that your Heavenly Father is not yet permitting, it often leads to painful consequences. That’s because God doesn’t want you to lose everything He has planned for your life due to immaturity. Think about the caterpillar: during the cocoon process, it has to struggle to break free. That struggle provides the strength and nutrients needed for transformation into a butterfly.
Another point to remember: God will never interfere with your free will. When the prodigal son asked for his inheritance, the father didn’t argue, he simply gave it to him and let him go. God does the same. Even though He has promises for your life, He won’t force you to walk in them. My advice is this: wait for God’s timing, because His will is not just good, it’s perfect!
2 – To Be In The Presence Of The Father Is A Privilege
John 1:12 (KJV):
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

Once the son recognized his mistake, he decided to return to his father’s house, hoping he could at least become one of his servants and have something decent to eat.
This young man had wanted to fulfill all his desires outside his father’s house, and he did! He wasted all his money on parties and prostitutes. But what happened in the end? He realized how good it had been to simply be at home with his father. Nothing he experienced compared to that.
Brothers and sisters, how many times are we just like this boy, chasing after the pleasures of the world: fame, luxury, expensive cars? But none of that can compare to being in God’s presence. The joy of the Holy Spirit is far greater than anything the world can offer. I invite you today to recognize how amazing it is to be in the house of the Lord!
3 – To Be Recognized As Son It Is A Delight
Luke 15:17–18 (KJV):
“And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee.”

When the prodigal son returned home, something unexpected happened. To his surprise, his father was overjoyed! He gave him new clothes and threw a celebration.
What do I learn from this? We all deserve judgment, brothers and sisters. But Christ loved us so much that He gave up His glory and life to die for our sins. Through His sacrifice, we are now reconciled with the Father. Even though we are sinners, because of Christ’s choice, we are now recognized as sons and daughters of God, the Creator of the universe. How amazing is that?
Conclusion
Today we’ve learned that everything outside of God is an illusion. Don’t waste your life chasing after the things of this world. Recognize today the beauty of being called a son or daughter of God. Understand that God is your Father. He knows what’s best for you and has perfect timing for every blessing in your life. So don’t try to rush the process, trust God and live according to His timing.
