“6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” Genesis 4:6-7
Every Christian has faced moments of temptation—times when, despite our best efforts, we’ve fallen short. Our sinful nature, if we’re not watchful, can sometimes overpower us. But have you ever asked yourself: Why doesn’t Jesus step in during those intense moments when the enemy tries to make us fall?
Today, we’re diving into this important and often overlooked topic. If this message speaks to you, don’t forget to leave a comment and share this article—so that others around the world can be blessed as well. Amen!
1 – God Wants To Test Our Love For Him
“2 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.” Deuteronomy 8:2
Throughout the whole Bible, we see countless examples of how deeply God desires intimacy with us. He longs for sons and daughters He can trust and count on.
The purpose of testing is simple: God can only use those who are ready to walk in His purpose. He cannot fulfill something in your life if you are not prepared to receive it—He is a righteous God. Sometimes, He has a great calling over your life, but before fulfilling it, He needs you to pass the test.
One of the best examples of this is the life of Joseph. When God allowed the devil to use Potiphar’s wife to tempt him, it wasn’t to harm Joseph—it was to test his faith. And when Joseph passed the test, God knew He could trust him with greater responsibility: to become the governor of Egypt and fulfill a powerful purpose.
Beyond all that, Christ desires genuine love from us. That’s why He gave us free will. Of course, He could intervene in every moment of temptation—but He wants us to choose Him freely, to overcome, and to live for Him alone. He trusts us!
2 – God Knows That We Can Overcome
“13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
According to the Bible, there is no temptation that is impossible to overcome. Whenever God allows the Devil to tempt you, He also provides a way out so that you can endure and overcome the situation. Take the example of Cain, for instance—God told him that he must rule over the temptation. In the same way, God is telling us today: You can overcome it. There are no excuses—God always provides a way out!
Now imagine if Joseph had given in to that grave sin and fallen into the temptation of Potiphar’s wife. He would likely have been killed, and the incredible plans God had for him might never have unfolded. That’s why we must remain constantly vigilant. Our enemy seeks to destroy us, and sometimes, all it takes is a single “yes” to begin that path.
Conclusion
Don’t fall for the Devil’s schemes—Christ has a powerful purpose for your life. Don’t be trapped by the enemy’s lies. Instead, live a life that brings glory to God, and you will never be put to shame.
God included these examples in the Bible to show us that victory is possible. Just ask the Holy Spirit for help, and He will give you the strength you need to overcome any temptation you may be facing.
If you’re feeling down because you’ve fallen into temptation, don’t stay there. Ask God for forgiveness—His arms are open wide, ready to receive you. He wants to help you rise above it. Just call on Him, and He will come to your rescue. Amen!
