“13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.”
Luke 4:13
“13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
1 Corinthians 10:13
As Christians we know that soon or later, there will be a day that the Devil will try to tempt us, this is a fact. But have you ever ask yourself why does he want us to fall in temptation so much? Why does he tempt us so hard sometimes? Sometimes it seems like he is desperate because he is tempting so hard, is not that true?
Well, there are many reasons why the Devil tempt us, but the main reason is that sin make us guilty before God, so unless we repent of our sins, at the moment we fall temptation we are literally getting a free ticket to eternal death in Hell!
Through this article we will discuss some reasons on why the Devil tempt us, but just before that we got to understand two thing, the first one it is that according to the Bible, there is no sin at all that we face it that we cannot overcome.
The word of God teach us that all temptation comes with the way out already, so we have no excuses to say that is not possible to overcome it, because everyone face the same temptations.
Second, in Luke 4:13(the last part of the verse) it is revealed that Satan just after tempting Jesus left him alone until an “Opportune Time”. This mean that, the Devil will always come to tempt us in a moment that he has advantages against us, so we got to be prepared for this moments, otherwise, he will tempt us until we suddenly fall.
1 – He Want Us To Feel Guilty And Flee From The Heavenly Father
“8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” “
Genesis 3:8-9
When we commit sin against God one of the first feelings is guilt, so we feel so guilty that we does not want to come near to God, we want to flee from him.
The reason why we do this, it is because we know God is holy, we know also that he saw our sin, so just after sinning we will feel this terrible feeling and the Devil know that, so his goal with this is to apart us from the heavenly father.
But see, if you commit sin does not do that, according to the bible actually what we should to is the opposite, we can see this on Eden itself, Adam and Eve try to hide themselves but God was seeking them even though he knew they flee from his presence, so does not hide from the presence of God, come to him with a repented heart and he will forgive you.
2 – He Want To Avoid Us To Have A Relationship With Lord Jesus
“26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.”
Hebrews 10:26
Considering that sin avoid us to receive the grace of God, when we sin we does not have connection to the heavenly father, so doing this we block our spiritual growth, so see we can use a marriage to represent that situation: Imagine a man who cheat his wife and his wife knows that, how this relationship can grow? To increase our relationship with God we have to fight against our evil desires and endure temptation, this is the only way!
3 – He Want Lead Us To Hell
“10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
John 10:10
The main goal of the Devil is to destroy our opportunity to have eternal life, he want to lead us to eternal death instead.
The reason for that it is that we are god’s Image, so he hate us just like he hate God, if you have the opportunity to feel demonic oppression you understand how much the Devil hate us.
So an advice is: ask God that he gives you a hate for sin, because believe me if you do not hate sin enough, you will fall on temptation because the Devil is smart, he know how to attract us with something that shows good but at the end of the day will kill us!
Conclusion:
We have to understand that unless we act sin as something that we have to avoid with all of our strengths and if we just ignore that, Satan will come on us with that temptation and will eventually lead us to fall on it.
So it is time to protect ourselves with the word of God, fasting, prayer and being vigilant all the time, remember: The Devil is Clever, so Clever that he could persuade a third part of Holy angel that lived in heaven with God, so please, does not think that you are strong enough to deal with him just by yourself, pray that God help you to overcome his plans against you, through Christ we can overcome it, amen!
