Eternal life it is a reality, and there is a God, Yes you just heard that! Look around you, it is impossible that something so perfect as the sun, all different kinds of animals and the universe was created by an explosion and not a super extraordinary beeing, the reason for that is that if this was true it would create an eternal loop!
The loop it would start with the follow question: “Who caused that explosion? If we discovered who, than we will ask the same thing again and again “Who caused this that caused that?” How to resolve the loop? Simple! For something such complex to be created, someone even more complex, that it God has to exist!
Even though you know that there is a God, there is still a problem to solve it, because just believe that God exist it will not save anybody from hell, that is the eternal death!
Actually it is so simple that people even try to do other things to “complement!”. The only thing that you really have to do to receive eternal life it is to receive Christ as your one and only savior. People usually try to add stuff such as: “it is to receive Jesus plus good works, or Jesus plus doing charity, or Jesus plus other stuffs”, but the bible is clear about it, is just JESUS ALONE!
The main point it is that yes it is good to do charity, and to do good thing for people, but as Christians, we do not do this because this will save us but we do because we are saved! That is, if you are a Christian, according to the apostle James you will show this through your works. That is a Christian should be a Christlike person, so because Jesus love people, we love people, so our life is to be like him!
If you say that you are a Christian but your character is not Christlike, you are a liar! How can someone say “i am a Christian” and live a life that is unpleasant to the heavenly father? It just make any sense at all!
So now that you already know the basic point of that, i selected some points that you need to focus on in other to live a life with Christ, because as we just saw what will show that you really receive Jesus as savior is how you live your life.
1 – Repent Of Your Sins
“9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9
“5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.”
Colossians 3:5-8
The first step on the walk with Christ is repentance. Without repentance, that is no salvation! God does not have any part with sin, as the bible says he called as to be holy, because he is holy! So our lives has to be according to the patterns of God. When someone live a life in sin, they are under judgement, the only way to escape of the wrath of God is through Christ.
Because Christ decided to die for us on the cross, now we can be saved through his blood, so to be saved repentance it is required!
2 – Accept The Lord Jesus As Your Only God And Savior
32 “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.33 But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.”
Matthew 10:32
To be saved, you have to acknowledge before others that you are a Christian, if someone says that repent but in front of people they feel ashamed and say that it is not a Christian this person it will not be saved!
3 – Attend In A Local Church
” 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Hebrews 10:25
“12 Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Ecclesiastes 4:12
Attending in a local church is crucial for a Christian, there God will use the pastors, worship songs to speak with you, we cannot forget about the moments of prayer, people with the same goals, that is eternal life… Have you ever ask yourself with is the devil investing so hard in order to make Christians to stop attending at local churches?
Simple, it is easy to make them fall! According to the bible, if there is two or more people together reunited in one mindset, it is harder to fall, that is why the Devil will do his best to make people think that being alone it is better than at the church, that is not TRUE!! Even though that is problems in a local church because we are dealing with humans, still it is the best place to be in order to grown as a Christian, it is necessary for a Christian that he has people that can discipline him in order to growth and to be close people with the same faith!
4 – Be Baptized
“15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
Mark 16:15
“18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
Matthew 28:18-20
It is also to be baptized in water to represent that you have die and now it is a new person in Christ. Of course that is some exceptions for example the criminal on the cross did not receive baptism and Jesus himself said that he was saved, but in normal situations being baptized it is a commitment, you are publicly saying that the old person is dead and everything it is going to be new now, because now you are a new person in Christ!
Something important to mention, is that the Catholic baptism is anti-biblical. That is, to be baptized you have to repent of you sins and choose to live a new life with Christ.
It is not possible for a child to be baptized, because they do not have any sin at all! The only thing that should be done in this situations it is to give praise to God, pray for God to bless the child.
5 – Live A Christlike Life
“5 But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: 6Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.”
1 John 2:5-6
After all of that, we Christians have a big and not so easy task to do, put ourselves into the shape of Christ!
So, if someone assume to be a Christian, their life it has to be similar to the life of Christ, their actions, their talking, how they love people, how they treat those who does evil to them. It is very hard and suddenly you will understand that a Christian life it is a constant life of repentance, being more holy and Christlike until the day that Christ decide to called us, that is our moment of pass away!
Conclusion
As long as we saw, it is more than just say “I accept Christ as my only savior”, if in your heart you did not accept Jesus for real, you will not be saved! Now, perhaps you have never the opportunity to do that but i invite you now if you have never done this before to pray to God and accept his son Jesus Christ as your only savior.
But before that, if you are ashamed of doing that, thinking “i will try do stop sinning, that i will come to God”, do not do that! It is the Devil trying to distract you, do not believe in him! Jesus said: –“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners”.(Mark 2:17), believe in me God want you as you are right now, trust in him and he will purify your ways as long as you walk with him!
So now, repeat with me : “My Lord Jesus, today i accept you as my only savior, thank you because you decide to die on the cross so that i could have eternal life, i love you and for now on, i will spend my life for you, thank you lord, in Jesus name i pray amen”.
