“1 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.”
Revelation 21:1-3
According to the Bible, The New Jerusalem it is going to be the city that the people of God together with him will be living forever and ever,a place where there is full joy,full happiness,no pain or suffering or death.
Sometimes when we read the bible due many content we can miss something, that is why i decided to create this article for the church.
Reality in The New Jerusalem it is still a mistery to us, but in the book of revelation the apostle john shared with us at least some of the amazing things that we will be able to see there.
Through this article, we will navegate through this bible verses and reflect about all especific places that john had seen in there.
1 – The Twelve Gates
“2 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west.”
Revelation 21:12-13
” 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. “
Revelation 21:21(First part of the verse)
The Apostle John saw the entrance of the city, a big wall with twelve gates, in each gate there was a name of one tribe of Israel, and there were an Angel for all gates.
He also describes that thoses gates were made of precious stones, each gate was made of a different kind of pearl.
Here what really amazes me it is that even though we can study about these topics, there is some things that only on eternity we will be able to understand.For example, as i was reading this it just crossed through my mind about what john says about these gates: “there were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west”.
I just started to think: “why should have been three gates?It is not only a gate need it for all?Why God choose to put so many gates in this city? Well this is something that only the creater can answer haha.
2 – The Twelve Foundations Of The City Walls
“18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.”
Revelation 21:18-20
“14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb”
Revelation 21:14
Here the apostle explain to us that in this city there is twelve foundations of the walls in which once of them are decorated with all sorts of precious stones.
Here we can see the criativity of God,sometimes we forget that God is the creator of all things such as Art and music for example,and he is not a normal artist, he is the art itself!
Now when we stop to think about it we can understand why there is so many details in these place, the creator used all kinds of arts to create all of that for his glory! How amazing it is to realize that this glorious and powerfull sGod love us and consider us his sons!
3 – The Great Street
“The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.”
Revelation 21:21(second part of the verse)
According to the scriptures, there the great street it is made of pure Gold, but not a normal one, but a gold that is similar to transparent glass, that is to say it is a perfect kind of gold, how glorious is this place my brothers and sisters?
4 – The River Of The Water Of Life
“1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city.”
Revelation 22:1-2(first part)
We will be able to see the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal. This river flows directly from the throne of our lord Jesus Christ, can you imagine the feeling on entering on these waters?
5 – The Tree Of Life
“On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. “
Revelation 22:1-2(second part of the verse)
Remember the tree of life of Genesis? That tree it will be in the New Jerusalem as well. But here there is no prohibided fruit, but twelve different kinds of fruits, yielding its fruit every month. We do not know what kind of fruit it will be, but i presume it will be much better than every kind of food that we can eat here on earth,it also says that the leaves of the tree will be for the healing of the nations!
6 – The Throne And The Face Of God
“3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.”
Revelation 22:3-4
This one it is by far the best of all descriptions, we will have access to the throne of God and our lord Jesus but not only that, we will have access to God himself! Think about it, me and you sinners living with this amazing God that created everything, he is such a powerful being, and even though decided to give us his amazing love, this God know everything about us and really love us even more than our parents!
Conclusion
Brothers and Sisters, be strong, does not matter how hard the hardships of this life can be, all this is nothing compared to eternity, so be strong and courageous, because one day Christ will weep every tear of us and we will reign with him for ever, again i say, nothing compares to eternity, God bless you all!
